    BIOGRAPHY

Frances Jaffer (1922–1999) was a poet and co-founder of the pioneering feminist journal,  HOW(ever). Kelsey Street Press's Frances Jaffer Award for a first book of poetry was named in her honor.

  • PRAISE

These are poems which embody a rare and wonderful intelligence. An intellect of emotions of the body of all the philosophical questions embedded in a woman's experience; the insights of mothers and daughters with none of the lies of over-simplicity of hiding. At turns canny, funny and stunning, these poems make one want to reason and weep.
